FIRE AND ICE --
There is a VAST, UNTAPPED, Source of Energy right beneath our
feet. It is Geo-Thermal Energy.
The center of the Earth is a core of hot molten Metal. This Inner
Core is covered by an Outer Crust which is many Kilometers
thick. In most places it would be difficult to drill deep enough
thru the Outer Crust to reach the Inner Core and for us to take
advantage of its Heat. But our Planets' Crust is not a single, solid,
layer of Rock. Instead, it is made up of several Tectonic Plates,
and it is where these Plates meet that it is possible for us to tap
into the Heat of the Inner Earth.
The country of Iceland sits on top of a junction of Tectonic Plates
and they are using Heat from the Earth to warm some of their
Homes and Greenhouses, (where they grow Vegetables, even
during the coldest days of Winter.)
This Heat/Power Source could be further exploited to generate
enough Electricity to supply all of the Power needed for their
Homes, Greenhouses, Factories, Stores, Public Buildings, and
their (Electric) Cars and Trucks.
Plus -- any Surplus Electricity generated from the Geo-Thermal
Power Plants could be transmitted to distant places, and used in
those Areas that can not "Plug In" to this Power Source.
This abundant Energy Source is there, it only needs to be
developed and then, transmitted, to those Areas in need. When
Geo-Thermal Energy is combined with our Solar, Wind, and Tidal
Energy Sources; we could produce enough Electricity to reduce
our dependency on Fossil Fuels and it would help to limit the
adverse effects of Climate Change.
(We have the Technology right now to stop Climate Change dead
in its tracks. We could use Lasers to drill deep holes in the Planets
Crust, when drilled by Lasers the drill holes will have sealed Walls
which are produced by the Lasers Heat, then (distilled ) Water
is pumped into the holes and the resulting Steam is used to
power our Electrical Generators. -- It is that simple.)
We could do this, we have the ability to do this immediately, the
only thing stopping us is our Will to develop this Abundant Energy
Resource. What are we waiting for?
